Happy New Year to all! I'm wishing all of you a happy, healthy & successful 2015!
I am here today to tell you about my new adventure of creations! They are all based around my little munchkin, Harper! Whether you are a Preschool teacher, Kindergarten teacher, Home-school mama or a working mama looking for extra practice for your young scholars I hope this line of products will help you.
My little girl is 3 years old & it's almost time [another year away] for Pre-K! As any other loving mama, I want to be able to educate my child as much as I can at home while making it fun. Well, I can tell you I have had so much fun creating these products as Harper has had "playing school" with her mama! It melts my heart each chance we get to "play school" together.
Knowing what I know being a Literacy Coach & past primary teacher, I don't want to push my child, but I want her to have all the tools to be successful when she enters school. Let's be honest, we all know the standards & expectations of achievement for Kindergarten & 1st Grade students these days. So knowing what I know, I will do everything possible to help my child be successful.
I fill our time together with fun activities to promote growth in a variety of ways. We read together everyday, have a playroom that in print rich, create an awareness of number sense with daily activities & do my best to ensure my child has meaningful daily experiences. I'm sure that you all are nodding along with me.
It is very important that young scholars have many opportunities to practice using their sensory & fine motor skills while gaining a sense of language. This is my thinking & starting point of this line of products.
So, I'm here today to show you my first 3 out of 5 completed products. These products are tailored to students in Pre-School, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and students of all ages who would benefit from more practiced with sensory-motor skills, fine-motor skills, letter practice, shape practice & number practice.
The great part is you can win them before you can buy them! So here's a look...
[FYI~ My daughter is only 3, so this was a fun new experience for her!]

Sensory Motor Skills
See It! Feel It! Say It! With Letters, Numbers & Shapes!
What Are Sensory Motor Skills?
First
lets start with sensory detection, no sensory function works in isolation. Our
senses work together and build upon each other. Sensory detections are~
hearing, vision, smell, taste, touch and lastly a balance and spatial
perception. We use these sensory detections to carry out tasks using our motor
skills. Our sensory detections communicate to our brain and then through out
our body. There are a wide variety of motor skills including~ gross and fine
motor skills, rhythm and timing, muscle tone, strength, coordination, reflexes
and more. Children who use their sensory detections through different
explorations and activities to practice motor skill activity will increase
balance, stability and muscle tone to be able to take on larger tasks.

Fine Motor Skills
Pre-Writing Practice!
What Are Pre-Writing Skills With NO Writing Tools?
These are hand skills practiced to build
strength and dexterity [how well we can handle small objects] in our hands.
Young children need to build strength in their small muscle hands as well as
strength in their forearm that will help provide stability. We need to build
strength in the thumb, index and middle fingers as well to be able to do
specific skilled movements. Lastly, we
want to build strength in the upper body and shoulders to help keep our body
steady while working. We need to build all of these things in our young ones
before they can start holding a pencil or scissors and work properly.
The next important piece is building
sensory information. Young children need to be able to understand what their
brain is telling them according to their senses. For example, how we feel or
where our hands go when we are doing a task. The brain needs to sense this
information to help with muscle control. There
are a variety of activities you can research online to do at home or at school
that will allow young children multiple exposures & experiences in building
their pre-writing skills WITH NO writing tools. Remember to always model
multiple times & allow multiple activity periods. The I Do ~ We Do ~ You Do
method works fabulous with young ones for these activities!
What Are Pre-Writing Skills With Writing Tools?
This is when young children are ready to
hold pencils, crayons, scissors or other tools. It is generally recommended to
start with what I call the “fat, big or large” pencils or crayons. After the
scribble stage, young children are ready to start working with lines before
forming letters or numbers. Students
will do activities that allow them to follow lines of all different forms &
sizes. These activities will prepare them for the beginning stages of forming letters
and numbers. The early writing stages are:
1)Random Scribbling (Ages 2-3)
2)Controlled Scribbling (Age 3)
3)Mock Writing (Ages 3-4)
4)Writing Letters (Ages 4-5)
5)Writing Words (Ages 5-6)
